Fingrid is responsible for Finland’s main grid; its’ maintenance, construction and development. Reliability, affordability and cleanliness of electricity transmission and supply are the guiding principles of Fingrid’s operations. They play a crucial role in planning new investments, such as new industrial projects, hydrogen production, data centres and clean energy production.
The main grid comprises about 14,500 kilometres of transmission lines, numerous substations, reserve power plants and cross-border connections. The main grid is being developed all the time; we strengthen Finland’s internal electricity transmission capacity and cross-border transmission connections and enable the connection of new customers to the main grid.
The growth in renewable energy production affects how the power system is operated. We’re at the forefront of development, creating new innovations and working with our customers to ensure that Finland continues to lead the way in clean energy. We make sure electricity is always available. Clean, reliable and affordable.
