The earth wires located above power lines transfer fault current safely into the ground via earthing connections. Earth wires may be necessary in areas with less conductive soil.
Power line areas are highly suitable places to feed game animals. Elk and deer seek out oats and clover, while a wetland or pond could be placed in dips under power lines to cater for game birds. Putting the land to effective use increases its value to local residents and hunters.
