”15-minute ISP will increase price fluctuations and highlight the importance of demand flexibility services. A 15-minute measurement period will mean changes in all spot-priced products. The shorter period will be a positive change if it is properly implemented.
For suppliers, monitoring the real-time balance and prices of balancing energy will be critical. Balancing one’s portfolio will be important in a financial sense, as incorrect forecasts could be expensive for electricity suppliers.”

”For electricity users, the transition to 15 minutes will cause additional costs related to changes in systems and service agreements. New business opportunities will open for service providers. Once all market places have switched to 15 minute ISP, there will also be new possibilities for consumers.
In the future, demand flexibility will play a big role in stabilising the energy system. Electricity consumers must have the chance to participate in different marketplaces also during transfer time without significant investments. The grid operators are responsible for making efficient infrastructure available to electricity market parties. The changes in measurements to 15 minutes should not decrease competition in the electricity market.”

The transition phase will be challenging because we’ll have to simultaneously deal with 15-minute and one-hour information. The system must have a high level of reliability so that customers can be correctly invoiced. Suppliers of information systems and measurement devices will play a very important role in the change.”
